Tips on Showing Your Home
Agents from many real estate firms will want to show your home. Please allow any agent who calls to show your home at the suggested time. If you are not frequently available, it is suggested that you allow a lock box to be installed on your door. You will increase your odds for a sale by allowing more qualified buyers to see your home. You do not want to miss an out-of-town transferee because your home could not be shown.
During a Showing:
- Open All draperies and window shades during daylight hours
- Turn on all lights and replace bulbs with high wattage bulbs where needed
- Open windows half hour before a showing to circulate fresh air
- Open all the doors between rooms to give an inviting feeling
- Place fresh flowers on kitchen table and/or in the living room
- If possible, bake cookies or bread to add an inviting aroma
- The kitchen and bathroom should sparkle
- Pets should be confined or restricted from view. Eliminate pet odors. Keep in mind, some people may be allergic to pets.
- All jewelry and small valuables should be stored in a safety deposit box or in a locked closet.
- Bed should be made and clothes picked up. Bathrooms should be clean with towels folded and toilet lid down
- When you leave the house, please leave it as if you know its going to be shown. You never know when the right person is going to look at it.
“Not only is Marie an expert on the local real estate but on everything else in the area. Being new to the area, she helped us with all sorts of questions and concerns. She definitely went the the extra mile for us. Marie’s fun loving personality will keep you smiling even in the most stressful home-buying situation. We feel very grateful to have had her as our realtor!”
Theresa Stewart (Mystic, CT.)
“Marie is absolutely the best! She makes searching for a home so much fun. She
listened to our needs/wants and she found homes that fit our vision. She is a native to the area so when my husband and I started looking blindly she was able to help point us in the right direction. She is a joy to work with and not only have we found a home, but we also gained a friend.”
Alison Verner (Georgia)
“Marie is an excellent communicator, which to me is the most important quality for a real estate agent. She routinely said I could call her 24/7. She’s also quick to respond to email or text. Luckily for me, our house sold on the first day. But having met her many times, I can say she has an effervescent, outgoing personality. Another obvious plus for the profession. She’s a hard worker. She puts herself out there and had a plan of attack for selling our house. I remember she mentioned having multiple open houses and even going door to door in the neighborhood. That didn’t come up in our case, but I’m confident she would have spent the time needed had things stalled. Above all, she’s a genuine, nice person. I’d highly recommend her as a real estate agent”
